Copywriting

Copywriting is a sort of writing skill that involves the use of words to promote a person, business, opinion or any idea.  The word `copy’  carries a meaning that the content is intended to be printed as we find the prints on the body of a newspaper article or book. The term `copywriter’; is generally used to such promotional situations. This is also regardless of the type of media such as advertisement for prints, television, radio or any other media. However, the persons who writes in newspapers are not copy writers; they are called usually a reporter or writer. The word `copy writing;’ is mostly used as noun but sometime `copy write’ is used as verb by professional.  Copywrite, the word is not listed in major dictionaries.

The job of copy writing is very purposeful. The main purpose of copy writing with marketing copy or promotional text is to persuade the readers  or listeners or viewers to act being influenced or motivated by comprehending the matter. These acts are may be in nature of buying some products or services or subscribe to certain viewpoints.  On the contrary the copy may act as something on its readers that dissuade to act. Mind you the art of copywriting is “getting across the perfect message, with the perfect words”.

There are various spheres where copy writing may appear. It may be found in direct mail pieces, taglines, jingle lyrics, web page contents. When the purpose of the content is not promotional then the writers are called preferably content writer. However, copywriters’ writings find places in online ads, e-mails, other internet content, televisions, radio, commercial scripts, press releases, white papers, catalogs, billboards, brochures, postcards, sales letters and other marketing communications medias such as the internet.

SEO Copywriting is related to but distinct from traditional copywriting. Copywriting on websites may refer to content writing for the purpose of achieving higher ranking in search engines as well. The strategic use and placement of keywords in repetition and use of keyword phrases on wepages is in practice for copywriting.  This technique is known as `organic’ search engine optimization (SEO).  This can only be done in the best way that should not bore, distract or confuse the human readers. Gaining the optimal results is a true form of art.
